Information + Graphics ≠ Infographics
Information combined with graphics make an Infographic. This assumption is wrong in
so many ways and needs to be disproved. This thesis provides the context to what an Infographic actually accounts for. What role do the areas of Information Design, Visual Storytelling and Visual Journalism play in the process of creating a qualitative Infographic? With a mix of text and graphic, this work aims to explain the purpose of an Infographic, its visual strength to simplify the complex, to make the more less and to tell the truth. Besides an overview of the four concepts named above, it also gives insight into some types and principles of Infographics as well as a journey into the newly emerged concept of Infographic Thinking.
